This year (2008) is the 15 year anniversary of my high school graduation. It's interest to see and hear from people you haven't heard from in years. When you start to talk to them, is almost like I never left high school ( I went to East Coweta High School in Sharpsburg,GA). Our reunion is the weekend of October 24 and I'm not sure if I will able to go. This will be base on the gigs for that weekend (Mama and Lil'Mama have to eat!)
I'm pretty sure that I will be in school in Jan 2009 for a 2ND Masters Degree (music technology or composition;maybe Education). I'm about 60% sure that I will not take up classical saxophone performance. Even though I want to be a better saxophonist, going to school and playing classical saxophone music seems like a waste of energy. I may change my mind, but I think composition or music technology seems to be more in line with my career goals
One thing that I learned this summer: Gigs will come and go!! I lost two gigs in one weekend ( mainly because of mis-communications with the band and the owner of the restaurant/night club). This is another reminder that as a musician, I have to be searching for new opportunities on a regular basis. I can depend on the band-leader to go out and find gigs for me (Even though the leader of the Latin band "Serenata" hunts down gigs like a wild man!) I have to get off my lazy @($ and go do something. It is also the same for finding private students. So what the economy is really crappy right now! If I want to eat, I have to go out and work.
That's enough for now. I'll have to write more later.

1st day of School
After a summer of lots of gigging and playing with my baby girl, the 2008-2009 school year has started. Right now, with the economy being in a downward turn, I am grateful that I am employed and have money coming in. I have talked to different musicians in the Atlanta area; some of them aren't gigging as much as they should. There aren't too many people that are playing 4-5 nights a week and if you are, keep it up.
I can't stay for two long; I'm still at school.
